Damma aufd Listn: Belinda Says (Alvvays)
Faszinierendes musikalisches Road-Movie in unter drei Minuten: Eine halbe Lebensgeschichte samt Höhen und Tiefen, Sorge, Zuversicht und Hoffnung packen Alvvays aus Kanada in ein unfassbar dichtes Shoegaze/Power-Pop Drama – und das ganze dauert nur unfassbare drei Minuten. Ein betrunkener One-Night-Stand, eine ungewollte Schwangerschaft, Zweifel, Gedanken an Abtreibung, Aufbäumen, von der Stadt aufs Land ziehen, das Baby lieber doch bekommen “with nothing in my pocket”, um ein neues Leben anfangen. Vielleicht als Kellnerin ein bissl was verdienen – irgendwie wirds scho werdn.
Zum Ende hin baut sich Zuversicht und der Optimismus auf und mündet in ein transzendentales Solo, das jedoch im Ungewissen lässt, ob dieses musikalische Roadmovie happy endet oder doch absolut tragisch. Kaum zu glauben, wie viel Lebensgefühl hier in einem kurzen musikalischen Moment Platz findet. Die Ambivalenz bleibt jedenfalls: “Belinda [Carlisle] says, that Heaven is a place on earth, well so is hell.” Auf Pitchfork wurde “Belinda Says” übrigens mit Platz 1 der 100 besten Songs 2022 gekürt.
